About Me

Hello from Aoraki National Park, New Zealand!

I’m a native of Seattle, USA, but I have made homes in four different continents and my fascination with learning has seen me take on roles ranging from teaching English to job skills training, before entering the world of digitally-delivered instruction.

I've long held an interest in the limitless potential of eLearning, particularly in regards to providing safe environments for learners to explore their ideas, and creating immersive scenarios where the desire to learn comes naturally.

This interest led me to complete a Master's degree in Digital Learning Games at Tallinn University in Tallinn, Estonia, and I continue to work toward exciting new applications in the medium.

What I Believe In:

Learner-centered design. One size does not fit all, and eLearning experiences should be responsive to learner input and results to maximize relevance and maintain a suitable level of challenge.

True Understanding. When working with subject matter experts, I go beyond the learning outcome goals and strive to really understand the needs, barriers, and motivations of the target audience.

Empowerment. Rather then just assessing knowledge, I aim to enable people to build skills and apply them effectively in their tasks to help them reach their goals.

Everything is an opportunity. Learning should not stop at "wrong" answers, but rather learners should be guided to reflect on outcomes so that they can use this knowledge to inform future attempts.
